Spence Wright is a Catawba County native. He grew up on Highway 16 at Drums Crossroads, attended Balls Creek Elementary, Tuttle Middle, and Bandys High School. He graduated from Bandys in 1988 and studied Public Health and Environmental Science at UNC-Chapel Hill. He married his high school sweetheart, BJ Mundy in 1992 and the couple eventually made their way to Durham. Through a long list of circumstances, they moved back to Catawba County in 2008. While living in Durham, Spence and BJ both worked on and off for WTE Solutions on a variety of projects, including content management, IT support, and sales. Spence began working for the company full time in 2012 as a Sales Coordinator and added the title of IT Project Manager in 2015.
The family has been very busy with volunteer work since moving back. Spence is an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 327, was the Soccer Director at Sherrills Ford Optimist for seven years as well as the President for five. He also teaches the 5-Kinder Sunday School class at The Cove Church's Denver campus.
